Five Leadership Dimensions / Sixteen Leadership Principles

Spiritual Dimension (All grades). “Lead by Following” - Individual and corporate values, continuously being formed by and aligned with a Biblical worldview, characterized by the development of gifts and resources for service.

  • Leaders possess values, morals and ethics consistent with a Biblical worldview, influencing both their behaviors and ideals an organization embraces.
  • Leaders serve people as Christ taught by demonstrating care for His followers.
  • Leaders experience God's calling upon their lives and exercise gifts, abilities and skills in response to this call.

Personal Dimension (Freshmen). “Character is Critical” – The character traits that influence leadership potential formed through personal growth and professional development.

  • Leaders are ultimately defined by their strength of character; exhibiting traits that advance a cause in the desired direction, sometimes under difficult conditions and with personal sacrifice.
  • Leaders take time to preserve and renew themselves, thereby increasing personal fulfillment, effectiveness and opportunity.

Interpersonal Dimension (Sophomores). “People Make the Difference” – The relational skills required of a leader to effectively influence people towards common goals.

  • Leaders develop excellent communication skills and gain support of multiple constituencies.
  • Leaders motivate followers to want to give their best by influencing and inspiring them to action.
  • Leaders understand the benefits that teamwork brings to an organization by ensuring sufficient opportunity for training, coordination, and collaboration.

Managerial Dimension (Juniors). “Focus on Results” – The combination of skills and style that enable a leader to accomplish tasks.

  • Leaders possess certain styles that create advantages and disadvantages, shaping their behavior and the opportunity for success.
  • Leaders are highly competent and familiar within their duties, possessing a technical knowledge of their responsibilities and they can execute plans.
  • Leaders address challenges head on by employing effective problem solving strategies.
  • Leaders effectively manage time, information, resources and priorities.

Organization Dimension (Seniors). “Create a Better Future” – Advanced leadership abilities that have a profound influence upon an entire community.

  • Leaders build a culture within the organization that is capable of obtaining and sustaining the desired results.
  • Leaders are innovative, capable of creating strategies that enable an organization to fulfill its mission.
  • Leaders have a better vision of the future, directing an organization and rallying people in the pursuit of the mission.
  • Leaders understand the barriers and benefits to change and promote an environment characterized by a thirst for learning and improvement.
