Become Involved

Our community is strengthened by families supporting and becoming involved with the school. Our goal at Houston Christian High School is to have all our parents actively participating in various school activities in some capacity. We offer many volunteer opportunities for parents, and hopefully there is something for you. Assisting with the musical, helping to plan the Celebration, calling potential donors in our phonathon, and assisting teachers with office tasks are just a few ways parents can become an integral part of Houston Christian High School. Parents can also hold office in the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) which supports campus activities or they can join the Mustang Athletic Booster Club and Fine Arts Council which support programs at Houston Christian High School.

We also welcome grandparent volunteers. Whether it is participating in the activities surrounding Grandparents Day or sharing with our students the lessons learned and the experiences gained in the workforce, grandparents can provide students with a wealth of knowledge that can be useful to the student both now and in the future.

By volunteering and becoming actively involved at Houston Christian High School, parents and grandparents alike can gain a better understanding of what their students’ daily world is like and can share the high school experience with their child or grandchild. It also helps to set an outstanding example of community service and commitment for the students that we hope will become a habit. Whatever your interest or talent, you can make a difference at Houston Christian High School!

Stay Connected

We know that Northwest Academy Alumni and Houston Christian High School Alumni both value their high school experiences, and we want them to know that Houston Christian High School is a place that they can all call home. Alumni can stay connected with former classmates, serve as class agents, get together at homecoming to share memories, and serve as college mentors to recent Houston Christian High School graduates. We anticipate that our alumni want to stay involved and we treasure that involvement. Please find below a list of volunteer opportunities for alumni. If you are interested in volunteering in any of these areas, please contact the Director of Advancement at (713) 580-6027.

Volunteer Opportunities

Class Agents

Class agents are vitally important to maintaining communication among classmates and keeping them in touch with Houston Christian High School. They also provide leadership for reunion planning and the Houston Christian High School Annual Fund. The purpose of the Annual Fund is to provide support for programs and operations that are necessary to develop a vibrant alumni community and to provide students with the best possible education. Our goal at Houston Christian High School is to provide each graduating class with at least three class agents. For more information on class agents, please contact the Director of Advancement at (713) 580-6027

College Mentors

Going off to college can be an exciting time for a graduating senior, but it can also be scary. Some students will go off to college in another state where they know no one and some will go to a school that has over 20,000 in attendance and their first class will have more than 100 students in it. That is why Houston Christian High School has developed the college mentor program. The purpose of this program is to provide graduating seniors with guidance and advice as they adjust to their new environment and this new time in their life. The program will match Northwest Academy alumni or Houston Christian High School alumni with one or more graduating seniors that plan to attend the volunteer’s college alma matter. This is a fairly new program at Houston Christian High School, so we are asking Northwest Academy alumni and Houston Christian High School alumni to volunteer to help recent graduates through this time of transition. The relationship between the college mentor and the student is entirely what they make of it. For more information on becoming a college mentor, please contact the Director of Advancement at (713) 580-6027 for more information.
